Can people without a disability take part in your gift experiences?

Absolutely yes, our experiences are operated by "main stream" operators, primarily delivering experiences to the non-disabled public.

How does it all work?

When you purchase an iCAN experience, we will provide you with a voucher number. This voucher number will always be supplied in an eVoucher sent on a date of your choosing. You also have the option to purchase a gift pack which means you get a physical voucher to wrap up as a gift should you wish!

When you have the voucher number, it is necessary to go to our Gift Voucher page where you input the voucher number. This will give you access to the experience details including key information such as "How to book" and "Getting there". You then contact the operator directly to book a suitable date for your experience and that's it, off you go!

What are the benefits of purchasing a gift experience through iCAN experiences?

The benefits of purchasing through iCAN experiences are:

  • We're a small team offering a friendly and personal service to our customers. Just give us a call and we'll prove it! 
  • All of our experiences and operators have been carefully selected for their suitability to work with people with disabilities.
  • We’ve done the hard work of finding the most disability-friendly experience operators. This often means digging out relevant information that isn’t given on operators’ websites so can’t be found with a simple web search.
  • iCAN experiences has close relationships and contracted agreements with all of our operators which include customer management. At the point that you contact the operator to book your activity, they will know to enquire about your disability and your needs as you have an iCAN experiences voucher.
  • iCAN experiences supply information in accessible formats. e.g. large print and Braille Gift Packs.

Can you cater for groups?

Absolutely yes, we can cater for groups of people, whether there is a mixture of disabilities or a mixture of disabled/ non-disabled people. Please do call or email us and we will help you organise the ideal activity!

Can friends and family join me in my experience even if they don’t have a disability?

Yes, this is no problem at all. Most of our experiences offer a discount for purchasing for two or more people. Please be sure to explain that it is a mixed booking when you actually book your dates.

Can my carer/PA take part in the experience?

Yes, carers/PA's are most welcome to take part in the experience as well; in fact, we would encourage it to make the overall experience enjoyable for all involved! It will be necessary to purchase the experience for two people, in most cases, there is a small discount when purchasing an experience for two people.

Does my carer/PA get a free place on the experience?

No, unless explicitly mentioned in the experience description, carers/PA's do not get a free place.

Can my carer/PA watch while I am enjoying my experience?

Spectators are welcome for most activities. Wherever possible, your carer/PA is more than welcome to watch and take photographs.

Do I have to take a carer/PA?

If you have a carer/PA to assist you with your everyday life, then yes, they should accompany you on your experience, they don't need to take part, but they should be there to help you if you need personal assistance. Our operators are not able to provide assistance beyond your taking part in the experience. For example, if you are Blind and need a sighted guide, the operators will be able to guide you around the venue, but they would be unable to guide you to the train station/bus stop.

Can I bring friends and family along as well?

Friends and family are most welcome to come along to your experience. In some cases, there is a small fee payable on the day for spectators; this is highlighted in the activity descriptions where applicable.

What are the disability classifications and why do they exist?

iCan experiences have created a number of disability classifications and have indicated which classifications are supported within which experience. We have created these classifications to simplify things; there are literally thousands of different disabilities and it would be impossible for us to list them all. We have therefore tried to simplify things with a glossary that clarifies what kinds of disabilities apply to which classification.

It is not clear whether my disability is supported by iCan experiences. Can you help me?

iCAN experiences are always working with new and existing operators to expand the number of disabilities that we can support. If you are unsure if an experience is suitable for you, please do get in touch and we will do our best to get you on the experience you want.

The experience isn’t listed in a location near me. Can you help?

Yes, we can help. iCan experiences are continually adding new locations to our catalogue, so if you can’t find what you’re looking for near you, please do give us a call, We will do our best to find something that fits your needs.

I can’t find the experience I am looking for. Can you get it?

We are continually expanding our activity catalogue and looking for new experiences to offer our customers. If you can’t find something that you are specifically looking for, get in touch and we will do our best to help. 

I'm a Friend of Guide Dogs, how do I get a 5% discount?

Please contact us advising which experience you would like to purchase along with your membership number.  We will validate your membership with Guide Dogs and then provide you with a discount.
